TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Men's Basketball Reception and Golf Outing, presented by First Financial Bank, eclipsed $200,000 in revenue for the first time in the event's history as announced by the Sycamore Athletic Department on Tuesday afternoon. Proceeds from the record-breaking event benefited Crossroad of Champions, Indiana State Athletics' collective arm supporting NIL and revenue sharing for the Sycamore men's basketball program.
 
"We are so thankful for the support we have received from the community in embracing this event," said head men's basketball coach Matthew Graves. "The funds raised during this event play a big part in helping us navigate and recruit high-quality student-athletes in this modern era of college athletics. I also want to thank our committee — Kathy Miley, Tree Huxford, Gordy Bryan, John Newton, Sally Stewart, and Dawn Fuqua. We're so appreciative of all their hard work and what they mean to our program."
 
The two-day event took place Thursday and Friday, with the reception held at the Country Club of Terre Haute and the golf tournament taking place over two flights Friday morning and afternoon at Hulman Links Golf Course.
 
At Thursday night's reception, attendees had the opportunity to meet and greet the 2026-27 Indiana State men's basketball team, as well as hear a preview of the season from Graves, Indiana State President Dr. Mike Godard, and Vice President/Director of Athletics Nathan Christensen.
 
During the live auction, attendees had the opportunity to bid on packages including travel on the team trips to Notre Dame, Kansas, and Oregon, as well as a five-day Napa Valley package, and experiences at The 2026 Masters at Augusta National, and the Breeder's Cup.
 
Friday's golf outing morning flight featured a tie at 19-under par (53), with the team of Steve Williams, Bill Verdeyen, Mike Harding and Hugh Crawford tying the team of Mike Alley, Jeremiah Turner, Bob Guell and Ben Pollitt. The afternoon flight was won with a score of 20-under par (52) by Gordy Bryan, Riley Bryan, Tim O'Neil and Greg Towne. The tournament also included a Closest to the Pin competition with David Herig winning in the morning and Rob Finzel winning in the afternoon.
