TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's track & field's Casey Hood Jr. was named this week's GoGo Squeez ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
 
Hood and the Sycamores opened the 2024-25 indoor track & field campaign strong this past weekend as Indiana State took on the field at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite hosted by DePaul in Chicago, Ill.
 
The Columbia, Mo. native came out fast in the 60m dash prelims setting a new meet record with a time of 6.67, just .02 off his P.R. set last season at the Missouri Valley Indoor Championships, to claim the top spot in the finals. He followed up with a 6.71 in the event finals to finish second overall in the field highlighting a day that saw the Sycamores put together eight first place finishes and 23 Top Three finishes overall on the course of the day.
 
Hood's time of 6.67 is currently the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA Division I to date as the sophomore is the highest-ranked Sycamore early in the season. He is currently one of eight Indiana State men's track & field athletes that are ranked inside the Top 25 nationally this season.
 
The GoGo Squeez ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2024-25 athletic season.
