ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State's Maddie Alexander has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete First Team, while Alexa Mackey, Mackenzie Kent, and Audrey Stephens earned spots on the Second Team, as announced by the MVC office on Thursday morning.
Alexander, a standout graduate student pursuing her MBA with a 3.86 GPA, started all 21 matches this season as goalkeeper for the Sycamores. The Battle Creek, Mich., native proved to be one of the conference's top goalkeepers, recording 120 saves, an impressive .870 save percentage, and nine shutouts while allowing just 18 goals.
Mackey, a senior majoring in Business Administration with a stellar 3.90 cumulative GPA, played in all 21 matches and started 15. She made program history in the home opener with a remarkable hat trick, becoming just the second Sycamore to achieve this feat. Mackey finished the season with three goals and recorded 26 shots.
Kent, a senior majoring in Exercise Science with an impressive 3.77 GPA, was Indiana State's leading scorer this season. She netted a team-high eight goals from 42 shots, with 26 on target, finishing the season with 17 points, which included two multi-goal games.
Stephens, a key contributor for the Sycamores, was one of only two players to start all 21 matches, accumulating 1,782 minutes on the field. The North Aurora, Ill. native is pursuing a master's degree in Sports Management with an outstanding 4.0 GPA. This season, she recorded 14 shots, highlighted by a career-best performance of four shots, including two on goal, in a match against SMWC.
Alexander, Mackey, and Stephens receive this honor for the second consecutive season, while Kent earns it for the first time in her career.
