TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State hosts their 2024 Senior Day festivities on Sunday afternoon as the Sycamores host Evansville at Memorial Stadium as ISU heads into its final two matches of the regular season. Kickoff between the Sycamores and the Aces is set for 2 p.m. ET with the match set to be streamed on ESPN+. Senior Day festivities will take place before the game, at 1 p.m ET.
This matchup will mark the 28th meeting between these two teams, dating back to 2000. Evansville leads the overall series with a record of 12-11-4, and the most recent encounter in 2023 ended in a 2-2 draw at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
Sycamore Standouts:
Indiana State (8-5-4, 3-3-2) defeated host Murray State (4-7-4, 0-3-3) with a score of 1-0 at Cutchin Field on Thursday afternoon. Mackenzie Kent scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute, securing the win for the Sycamores
Indiana State encountered a strong offensive performance from Murray State, who outshot them 20-8 and earned 5 corner kicks compared to Indiana State's 2.
The Sycamores' defense remained strong, with Maddie Alexander recording seven saves and securing a shutout for Indiana State. This 1-0 victory marked Indiana State's 10th shutout of the 2024 season, setting a new program record.
Mackenzie Kent extended her scoring streak, netting a goal for the second consecutive game and bringing her season total to six.
Her go-ahead goal occurred in the 55th minute, as she broke through a group of Racer defenders and slid the ball past Revolorio into the top left corner of the net, breaking the scoreless tie and putting the Sycamores in the lead.
The Sycamores are looking to keep their unbeaten streak at Memorial Stadium alive this weekend as Evansville has allowed 20 goals this season.
Alexander continues to pace the Sycamores with 101 saves while starting all 17 matches on the year. With 347 career saves, she ranks fourth in Sycamore history and holds the program record for the most shutouts in a single season, with nine.
Mackenzie Kent leads the Sycamores with 13 points in 17 games, contributing 6 goals and 1 assist from 34 shot attempts. Alex Lehnert has also been a key part of the Sycamores offense, scoring 11 points with 4 goals and 3 assists in the 2024 season.
Wimberley Wright is one of three players, alongside Alexander and Stephens, to start all 17 games this season, accumulating 9 points with 2 goals and 5 assists.
Both Alexa Mackey and Brooklyn Woods have recorded 7 points each, each contributing 3 goals and 1 assist in the 2024 season.
Scouting Evansville:
The Purple Aces enter Sunday's contest with an overall record of (1-7-6, 0-4-4) as they fell in their most recent matchup with a score of 1-0 against Illinois State on Thursday afternoon.
Evansville has scored nine goals this season, led by four Aces who have contributed a pair of goals and Hailey Autenrieb who has taken 23 shots.
Chris Pfau entered his seventh season as the head coach for the Evansville women's soccer team in 2024. Overall, he has compiled a 41-39-19 record in six seasons as the head coach of the Purple Aces.
