BOSTON, Ma. - Indiana State men's basketball junior
Isaiah Swope was selected to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List, announced today by CollegeInsider.com. This award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball.
Swope is the top scorer of the Indiana State team that boasts a 13-2 overall record, 4-0 mark in the MVC early in the season. He leads a roster that features five players averaging double-digits on the year with 18.9 points per game.
Swope has led the team in scoring in nine games including a season-high 27 and 10 rebounds coming against Northern Illinois. He's added six games with at least 20 points and finished in double-digit scoring in 13 of his 14 games, including 10-straight with 10+ points.
Swope has been consistently ranked among Division I's top three-point shooters, being ranked third nationally in three-pointers per game – his highest ranking this season – heading into Wednesday night's game against Drake University. The Newburgh, Ind. native ranks at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference in total three-pointers made with 51 heading into Wednesday's game, putting him No. 11 nationally, only 11 threes behind the nation's leader.
So far in his career, Swope is a 40.2% three-point shooter. This season, he is shooting at a 44.3% clip (51-for-115) from beyond the arc.
