ST. LOUIS – Indiana State sprinter
JaVaughn Moore was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced Wednesday by the league office.
Moore won each of the three events he competed in at the Joe Walker Invitational, taking top spot in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. He ran the only 100m time in the field under 10.5 seconds and also had the only 200m time under 21 seconds. Moore ran a time of 10.47 (w: +1.1) in his first 100m of the season and clocked a time of 20.93 (w: +1.2) in the 200m. He also ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay that ran a time of 39.98, the second-fastest time in program history.
Moore ranks fourth in the MVC 100m (third-fastest wind-legal time) and second in the conference in the 200m. In addition, Moore's 100m time ranks eighth in the Great Lakes region and 60th in NCAA East Region qualifying, while his 200m time ranks third in the Great Lakes region, 36th in NCAA East Region qualifying and 71st in the nation. Indiana State's 4x100m relay team, with Moore running the opening leg, ranks first in the MVC and the Great Lakes region, 17th in NCAA East region qualifying (16th among A teams) and 41st in the nation (36th among A teams).
The weekly award is the eighth of Moore's career, having previously earned six indoor and one outdoor athlete of the week honors, and Indiana State's fourth weekly honor during outdoor season. Indiana State won 10 MVC Athlete of the Week awards during indoor season, with
