ST. LOUIS – Indiana State senior guard Kiley Bess was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week Monday afternoon by the conference office after helping lead the Sycamores to a win over Southeast Missouri State.
 
Bess had yet another efficient game for the Sycamores, going 4-for-7 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line on her way to a 16-point performance in Indiana State's win over SEMO. She also pulled down four rebounds and dished out three assists in the win over the Redhawks, and did not have a turnover in her 33 minutes of playing time.
 
Bess ranks in the top three on the team in scoring (first, 12.6), rebounding (third, 4.8), assists (second, 2.6) and steals (second, 1.4) while leading the Sycamores in minutes played at nearly 33 per game. She ranks in the top 25 in the MVC in points (16th, 12.6), field goal percentage (19th, 45.2), 3-pointers per game (tied-16th, 1.3), assists (tied-17th, 2.6), steals (20th, 1.4) and minutes played (fifth, 32.6)
 
The weekly honor is the second MVC honor of Bess' career and marks the first time since the 2021-22 season that Indiana State has earned multiple MVC weekly honors in a season.
 
Bess and the Sycamores begin a stretch of five straight road games Sunday at 6 p.m. against Ohio.
