Allen, Flowers, Mitchell to represent Sycamore women’s basketball at MVC Media Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State fifth-year guard Jayci Allen and junior forward Amerie Flowers will join head coach Marc Mitchell in representing the Blue and White at the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Basketball Media Day, set for Wednesday morning at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Allen appeared in all 32 games for Indiana State last season, starting one and averaging nearly 25 minutes per game primarily coming off the bench. Despite not starting, she ranked third on the team in scoring and rebounding at 9.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and was the Sycamores' top 3-point shooter, knocking down 50 treys at a 31.6 percent clip. Allen ranked in the top 10 in the MVC in 3-pointers per game with 1.6 and 3-point percentage at 31.6. She scored in double-figures 16 times during the 2025-26 campaign, including a 21-point performance in a win over Eastern Illinois, while knocking down three or more 3-pointers in seven games. Allen also pulled down five or more rebounds in 10 games, including a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double at Drake.

Flowers appeared in 31 of Indiana State's 32 games last season, starting 26 and averaging 15.4 minutes per game. Despite the low minutes total, she made the most of her time on the court with averages of 7.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, ranking second on the team in rebounds and sixth in points. Flowers ranked in the top 15 in the MVC in rebounding and was one of only two players among that top 15 to average under 20 minutes per game. She registered three double-doubles, all of which came in Indiana State wins, while setting a program record for rebounds in a season opener with 15 at IU Indy. Flowers scored in double-figures 12 times, including a career-best 27-point outburst against Murray State, while pulling down five or more rebounds in 17 contests.

Mitchell enters his third season as the Sycamores' head coach after leading the Trees to a six-win improvement in his second year at the helm. Indiana State ranked in the top 50 in scoring offense at nearly 75 points per game, the program's best mark in nearly 20 years, while also ranking in the top 60 nationally in rebounds at 40 per game. The Sycamores' seven 80-point games last year were their most since the 2006-07 season, while Indiana State finished in the top three in the MVC in points, rebounds, bench points, free throws, offensive rebounds and turnovers forced. The Trees ranked in the top five nationally last season in bench points (31.8), free throws made (17.2), free throws attempted (23.9) and possessions per 40 minutes (78.9).
