TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State is back on the road this weekend as the Sycamores make the trek to Carbondale, Ill. and the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex for a Sunday afternoon contest. Kickoff between the Missouri Valley opponents is set for 2 p.m. ET.
 
The Sycamores (1-5-7, 0-3-2) are coming off their seventh draw of the 2023 season as ISU battled visiting UIC to a scoreless tie at Memorial Stadium on Thursday night. ISU was evenly matched throughout the contest with the Flames with the Sycamores outshooting the Flames 10-9, while UIC held the 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Sycamores pressed the advantage early in the contest as Adelaide Wolfe posted ISU's earliest shot on target in the 2023 season. The sophomore defender posted a shot 1:21 into the contest that was deflected up and off the post as Indiana State attacked early. Audrey Stephens and Anna Chor had two shots apiece to pace ISU with eight players launching toward the net during the contest.
 
Senior goalkeeper Maddie Alexander stopped both UIC shots on target in posting her fourth shutout of 2023. Both attempts came in the first half with the Battle Creek, Mich. native directing traffic in front of the net throughout the match, while coming up several times to challenge the UIC attack.
 
UIC's Riley Collett posted two shots, including one shot on goal to pace the UIC offense. Kathryn Rutledge added two shots in the draw. Keiser had two saves to lead the Flames in net.
 
The Sycamores are one of seven teams in the NCAA Division I rankings with seven or more draws in the season as ISU continues to surpass a previous season mark in the category. Only Evansville (8) has more in the MVC in 2023 with ISU slated to face the Purple Aces on October 19 on the road.
 
ISU's offense continues to fight as the Sycamores posted double-digit shots for the fourth match in the 2023 season. Indiana State is looking to end a stretch of five consecutive scoreless matches that equals the longest streak since the 2000 season.
 
The Sycamores have scores six goals over the 2023 season paced by Maddie Helling's two on the year, while Lina Fasquelle, Mackenzie Kent, Chloe Tesny, and Adelaide Wolfe have all found the back of the net. Kent continues to lead the Sycamores with 24 shots and 13 shots on goal in 2023, while Alexa Mackey has 12 shots with nine on target on the year.
 
Alexander continues to pace the Sycamores with 53 saves while starting all 13 matches on the year. The senior's 53 saves are the second-most in a single season over her career (81, 2021), while her 219 saves put her 16 behind Emily Lahay (235, 4^th) for fifth all-time in Sycamore history.
 
Southern Illinois was selected eighth overall in the MVC preseason poll as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Salukis posted 39 points after a season they finished tied for third in the MVC standings with an 8-5-4 mark, 5-2-3 record in MVC play.
 
The Salukis have struggled to date in 2023 with an 1-8-4 mark, 0-5-1 in MVC play on the season following their Thursday afternoon defeat against Belmont. SIU picked up their first win of the season in the opener against Jackson State but have struggled since the start of conference play scoring two goals over the six matches, including a 1-1 draw against Evansville.
 
McKensey Bunch paces the SIU offense with four goals on the season. The senior forward has recorded 17 shots with nine on goal in the 2023 season. Kaitlin DuCharme (2), Dana Cruz, and Emma Spotak all have goals on the year.
 
Chantelle Symes has been the team's primary goalkeeper on the year with 11 starts surrendering 15 goals while facing 151 shots. Ary Lougher and Bunch have also seen time in the net.
