ST. LOUIS – Indiana State women's basketball's 2022-23 schedule was finalized Thursday morning, as the Missouri Valley Conference unveiled a 20-game conference slate for each of the league's 12 members.
The upcoming season marks the first time the Valley has played a 20-game conference schedule, while the additions of Belmont, Murray State and UIC makes the MVC a 12-team league for the first time in its history. Indiana State will face nine of the other 11 schools twice, playing both home and away. The Sycamores will face Drake and Northern Iowa once each, playing host to the Bulldogs in Terre Haute while traveling to Cedar Falls to play the Panthers.
Indiana State will open Valley play at the Hulman Center for the first time since the 2017-18 season when it faces Missouri State on December 29 and Southern Illinois on December 31. The games against the Lady Bears and Salukis close a five-game homestand for the Sycamores, who conclude non-conference play with three straight home games.
The Sycamores' first road trip sees them head north for games at UIC (January 5) and Valparaiso (January 7), followed by a trek down US 41 for a midweek clash with travel partner Evansville on January 11. The Trees return home to face Drake on January 14 before heading back on the road the following week to play Illinois State (January 20) and Bradley (January 22). Indiana State closes the month of January with home games against MVC newcomers Belmont (January 27) and Murray State (January 29).
Indiana State opens February with a midweek home game against Evansville on February 1 before hitting the road for three straight games. The Sycamores will travel to Northern Iowa (February 5), Murray State (February 10) and Belmont (February 12) during that span before returning home to host Valparaiso (February 17) and UIC (February 19). ISU closes the month on the road at Southern Illinois (February 23) and Missouri State (February 25).
The Sycamores close the regular season at home for the second straight season, finishing the campaign with games against Bradley (March 2) and Illinois State (March 4) inside the Hulman Center. The Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament is set for March 9-12 in Moline, Illinois, with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
