TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State track and field opened the home portion of its outdoor schedule atop the charts, as the Sycaomores finished first on both the men's and women's side at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational.
Indiana State's men scored 256.5 points, finishing 129.5 points ahead of second-place Eastern Illinois. The Sycamore women had 215.5 points, 92.5 points ahead of Eastern Illinois, who placed second. ISU had 13 total event wins in the meet, with the men picking up seven titles and the women taking first six times.

Sprints/Hurdles
Noah Malone shined for a second consecutive week in the men's 100m, setting a personal record for the second straight meet. Malone ran a time of 10.49 to place first in the event, with his time ranking 10th in program history and just 0.06 seconds off the Paralympic T12 world record.
Jhivon Wilson placed fourth in his outdoor season debut, running a time of 10.77. In the women's 100m, the Sycamores got a pair of podium finishes from
Michelle McDonald and
Mirlege Castor. Making her season debut, McDonald placed second at 12.15, while Castor finished third at 12.21.
The Sycamores swept the podium in the women's 200m, with
Reynei Wallace taking the top spot in 25.03.
Kamille Gaskin-Griffith finished second in 25.41, while
Iyanla Hunter rounded out the top three with a time of 25.47. On the men's side,
JaVaughn Moore finished second in the 200m in his outdoor season debut with a time of 21.47. In the 400m,
Napoleon Hernandez had a top-three finish for the Trees, placing third with a time of 50.30.
Zoe Sullivan took the top spot in the women's 100m hurdles with a sub-14 second time, coming in at 13.99.
Ryann Porter (14.21) and
Riley Tuerff (14.40) also earned top-five finishes for the Trees. On the men's side,
Luigi Rivas ran a 14.53 in the 110m hurdles to place second, with
Daryl Black finishing fifth at 15.11. In the 400m hurdles,
Ayana Parchman (1:05.09) paced the Sycamores with a second-place finish on the women's side, while
Quincy Armstrong set a PR of 53.59 to lead the ISU men.
Indiana State's relay teams turned in a strong showing Saturday, as the Sycamores swept the 4x400m relays.
Sierra Long, Wallace, Hunter and Tuerff claimed first place in the women's 4x400 with a time of 3:55.85, while the team of
Mitchell Cline,
Tahj Johnson,
Wyatt Wyman and
Cameron Stevens won the men's 4x400 with a time of 3:15.17. ISU's team of
Daija Springer, Castor, Hunter and Wallace placed second in the women's 4x100m relay with a time of 48.27, while the team of
Ben Shepard, Hernandez,
Caine Wilson and Armstrong gave the Sycamores a 1-2 finish in the men's 4x400 with a time of 3:20.17.
Mid/Distance
Wyman continued his strong outdoor season by taking first in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:54.89. Fellow Sycamore
Cale Kilian was right behind him in second with a time of 3:55.37, while
Jackson Krieg also earned a top-five finish at 3:56.63. On the women's side,
Jocelyn Quiles ran a time of 4:41.96 to place first, with
Morgan Dyer placing third in her outdoor season debut with a time of 4:54.42.
Indiana State also participated in the steeplechase for the first time this season, with all four Sycamore competitors setting new personal bests in the event. On the men's side,
Logan Pietzrak (2nd, 9:26.64) and
Ethan Breen (3rd, 9:32.67) both earned podium finishes, while
Maggie Falater (2nd, 11:42.35) and
Cassidy Bagby (4th, 11:49.87) both clocked top-five marks on the women's side.
Wesley Beitler also made his season debut, placing second in the 5000m as an unattached runner with a time of 15:37.01.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Indiana State swept the pole vault for the second straight weekend as
William Staggs and
Selene Weaver took the top spots on the men's and women's side, respectively. Staggs cleared a season-best 5.12m (16-09.50), with
Callan Whitehouse coming in second after clearing 4.67m (15-03.75). Weaver cleared 3.98m (13-00.75), her top mark of the outdoor season, with
Landis Brandon (3.68m/12-00.75) and
Brooklyn Giertz (3.53m/11-07.00) rounding out a sweep of the podium for the Trees.
The Sycamores also went 1-2 at the top of the women's long jump standings, as
Faith Frye took the top spot with a jump of 5.53m (18-01.75) and
Claire Pittman placed second at 5.49m (18-00.25). On the men's side,
Frankie Young III (7.07m/23-02.50) and
Dearis Herron (6.98m/22-11.00) placed second and third, respectively.
In the high jump,
Eva Grace Quinlan cleared 1.65m (5-05.00) to place second on the women's side, while
Kevin Krutsch cleared 2.01m (6-07.00) to place second on the men's side.
Throws
Indiana State's throwers opened the weekend meet on fire, setting six personal records in the first three events, which took place on Friday.
Thomas Hickerson led the charge on day one with a throw of 59.92m (196-07) to take the top spot in the javelin, an event that saw the Sycamores sweep the podium. Hickerson's mark ranked third in program history, with
Justin Miller (56.45m/185-02) and
Elias Foor (54.55m/179-00) also setting personal records on their way to second and third-place finishes, respectively.
Elijah Grider also earned a top-five finish in the event with a throw of 39.74, (130-04).
The Sycamores also had a pair of top-five finishes in the men's hammer throw, as Foor (54.08m/177-05) and
Brett Norton (53.86m/176-08) both set personal records to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Also setting a personal record on the opening day of competition was
Kamille Gaskin-Griffith, as the sophomore had a mark of 35.05m (115-00) in the women's javelin to better her previous PR by more than one meter. Gaskin-Griffith had the top finish among the Sycamore competitors in the event, placing sixth.
Indiana State's success continued into the second day, as Norton set a personal record of 17.85m (58-06.75) in the shot put to place first. Norton's throw ranked seventh in program history. Norton had another top-three finish in the discus, placing second behind fellow Sycamore
Wyatt Puff with a throw of 49.72m (163-01). Puff had a top throw of 50.04m (164-02), with
Noah Bolt completing the Sycamore podium sweep by placing third with a throw of 49.48m (162-04).
Hannah Redlin had a pair of top-five finishes Saturday, placing third in the discus (44.21m/145-00) and fifth in the shot put (13.11m/43-00.25).
