TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State's final home meet of the 2021-22 season went the same way the first two outdoor home meets did, as the Sycamores placed first on both the men's and women's side Saturday at the Gibson Track & Field Complex.
The Sycamore men scored 211 points, while Indiana State's women finished with 125 points. ISU finished 86 points ahead of second-place Eastern Illinois on the men's side, with the women's team finishing 20 points ahead of second-place UIndy.
As a team, Indiana State finished with 11 event wins and 29 top-three finishes.
Jhivon Wilson (100m and 200m) and
Brittney Walker (long jump and triple jump) each won a pair of events for the Sycamores.

Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State's sprinters put on a showcase Saturday afternoon, led by a pair of notable finishes from
Jhivon Wilson. Wilson placed first in both the 100m (10.48) and 200m (21.14). The Sycamores also got a first-place finish in the women's 100m from
Mirlege Castor, who ran a time of 11.77.
Cameron Stevens also had a noteworthy performance Saturday, as the Sycamore freshman ran his fastest 400m of the season at 48.57.
ISU's men's hurdlers also put together a pair of first-place finishes, as
Daryl Black won the 110m hurdles in 14.41, while
Quincy Armstrong ran a time of 52.83 to win the 400m hurdles.
Saadiya Mitchell (100m, 12.54),
Ben Shepard (400m, 50.65) and
Chloe Rolen (100m hurdles, 15.34) also had top-five finishes for the Trees.
Mid/Distance
While most of Indiana State's distance results from the weekend came at the Drake Relays, the Sycamores still had multiple top-three finishes Saturday in Terre Haute.
Chloe Loftus and
Wesley Beitler both earned second-place finishes in the 5000m runs, with Loftus running a time of 19:14.76 and Beitler, competing unattached on the men's side, finishing in 15:40.13.
Jason Dworak also had a second-place finish in his steeplechase debut, running a time of 9:43.70 in the event.
The Sycamores also had top-three finishes from
Jocqael Thorpe in the 800m (1:57.11) and
Maggie Falater in the 3000m steeplechase (12:05.27), while
Devon Zeck (1500m, 4:57.78) and
Ian Gadberry (5000m, 16:04.58) placed in the top five in their respective events.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Brittney Walker recorded a pair of wins for the Sycamores Saturday, taking first in both the long jump and triple jump. Walker had a mark of 5.83m (19-01.50) in the long jump, while her top triple jump mark came in at 12.10m (39-08.50).
Faith Frye (5.53m/18-01.75) and
Dominique Wood (5.39m/17-08.25) combined with Walker to sweep the long jump podium, while Wood also earned a top-three finish in the triple jump (11.56m/37-11.25).
On the men's side,
Dearis Herron earned a pair of top-two finishes for the Trees, placing first in the long jump (7.22m/23-08.25) and second in the triple jump (14.47m/47-05.75).
Bryan Keubeng added a top-five finish in the long jump for the Sycamores with a top mark of 6.93m (22-09.00).
The Sycamores had three of the top five in the women's pole vault, with
Landis Brandon leading the way for the Blue and White in second place. Brandon cleared 3.81m (12-06.00), while
Brooklyn Giertz cleared 3.66m (12-00.00) to place third and
Maddie Welsh placed fifth after clearing 3.51m (11-06.25).
ISU also had two of the top four women's high jumpers Saturday, as
Marisa Marshall and
Hannah Bryant both cleared 1.55m (5-01.00). Marshall placed second and Bryant placed fourth.
Throws
Indiana State's men's throwers had a day to remember Saturday, with numerous personal records set at the Sycamore Open.
Noah Bolt placed in the top three in all three events he competed in, while
Elias Foor posted a top-five mark in school history in the discus.
Foor's mark in the discus of 53.37m (175-01) was the best mark of his career by more than three meters and ranked fifth in school history. Bolt placed second in the event with a personal-best mark of 51.52m (169-00), while
Wyatt Puff (50.99m/167-03) and
Brett Norton (50.53m/165-09) both finished in the top five.
Puff added a win for the Sycamores in the shot put, with a top mark of 17.69m (58-00.50). Foor and Bolt both had throws of 15.92m (52-02.75) to sweep the event podium for the Trees.
Bolt had the top mark in the hammer throw (57.64m/189-01) for the Sycamores and was one of four Trees to place in the top five, finishing second.
Brandon Peck (56.21m/184-05), Foor (55.22m/181-02) and
Ryan Golliher (54.67m/179-04) rounded out the top five for Indiana State.
In the javelin,
Elijah Grider had a top throw of 44.02m (144-05) to place third, while
Brooklyn Giertz had the top mark on the women's side at 32.02m (105-01) to place fifth.
