ST. CHARLES, Mo. – In what could be considered a preview of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship coming up in the next month, Indiana State women's golf was able to finish ahead of all but two of their MVC foes. Sophomore
Chelsea Morrow finished five shots out of the top-5 in eighth individually and Indiana State placed fifth in the 16-team field at the Diane Daugherty Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois.
Morrow matched her first-round score with a final round 76 during Tuesday's action at the par-71 Bogey Hills Country Club. It marks the best finish of the season for the Fishers, Indiana native as she posted a score of 18-over par (76-79-76=231) to secure the top-10 finish.
Indiana State shot 317 as a team on the final day of play, finishing behind MVC foes Missouri State and Illinois State. The Bears won the tournament with a score of 52-over par to edge South Dakota (+59) by seven strokes. Austin Peay took third (+92) while Illinois State shot 98-over par. APSU's Taylor Dedmen claimed the individual crown with a final round 73 to finish seven-over par for the event.
Battling heavy winds and cold weather throughout the two-day tournament, Indiana State's
Lauren Green finished in the top-20 after posting a final score of 238 and a final day 79 to finish 25-over par.
Kristen Hobbs (+29) placed tied for 32nd,
Madison Branum (+32) finished tied for 47th, while
Iyoun Chew (+40) finished tied for 68th.
