ELKHART, Ind. – Two more Indiana State records fell on the final day of the CSCAA National Invitational Championships as the Sycamores closed out their last event of the 2021-22 season.
 
The Sycamores finished 25th overall in the team standings with 55 points following the conclusion of the three-day competition and capped off another strong season in the Sycamores annals.
 
"This weekend was a great way to conclude a successful season," head coach Josh Christensen said. "Four school records and a top-25 finish in our first time at this meet shows the direction our program is headed. I'm really proud of this group for putting in work for an extra couple of weeks and setting the standard for future years."
 
Kaimi Matsumoto established her second individual record of the weekend, this time in the 100-yard Individual Medley, in the morning session, while she teamed up with Chloe Farro, Alexa Szadorski, and Emily Webb to set a new ISU record in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay in the evening.
 
"Kaimi had a huge weekend," Christensen added. "She set two individual records and was a big part in both relay records. It was one of the better individual performances we've ever had in program history.
 
Saturday Night Finals
Another Indiana State record fell in the Sycamores final race of the CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Saturday night as ISU took on the field in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The ISU quartet of Chloe Farro, Alexa Szadorski, Kaimi Matsumoto, and Emily Webb shattered their previous mark set earlier this season at the Kansas Classic (3:25.74) by over a full second as the team finished in 3:24.55 to cap the weekend.
 
Saturday Morning Preliminaries
Kaimi Matsumoto broke another Indiana State record on Saturday morning as the junior took the 100-yard Individual Medley time by nearly a full second off the previous mark set back in 2018 by Megan Schade (58.66) at the CSU Magnus Cup Invitational. Matsumoto touched the wall in 57.93 for her second ISU record of the CSCAA meet after previously setting the 50-yard Butterfly mark on Friday. Her time of 57.93 put her 24th overall in the field to open the meet.
 
Carmen Alard Vegas paced three Sycamores in the 200-yard Backstroke preliminary rounds as the junior finished 30th in the field with a time of 2:03.26. Madie Rutan (2:04.71, 44th) and Alexandria Cotter (2:06.17, 45th) also competed in the event on Saturday morning.
 
Chloe Farro and Emily Webb took on the field in the 100-yard Freestyle preliminaries. Farro paced the Sycamores finishing 37th in 51.49, while Webb touched the wall in 51.67 to place 43rd overall in the event.
 
Dorotea Bukvic put together the Sycamores' top time in the 200-yard Breaststroke preliminaries as the freshman went 2:19.34 to finish 28th in the field. Elle Gilkerson joined her in the competition finishing 49th overall in 2:22.29.
 
Marni Gray rounded out the group competing in Saturday's preliminaries as the junior competed in the 200-yard Butterfly event. Gray went 2:04.29 to finish 30th overall in the field.
