TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State is back in action this week as the Sycamores head to the Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Ind. for the annual Braun Intercollegiate set for October 24-25.
The two-day event will feature one round of 18 holes on each day. Play will open on Monday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start on the par-72, 6,032-yard course.
"The course is a unique place because it will play really fast," head coach
Greg Towne said on upcoming tournament. "We will have to focus and put the ball in certain places on the course. You don't have the option to hit driver on every hole and greens have some significant slopes."
The Sycamores will be sending out the lineup of
Chelsea Morrow,
Kristen Hobbs,
Briana LeMaire,
Yang Tai, and
Molly Lee for the second consecutive tournament.
Iyoun Chew,
Grace Welty, and
Eliza Baker will also compete individually in the tournament for the second straight weekend.
Indiana State is coming off their first top-five finish of the 2022-23 season at the Loyola Invitational. LeMaire is coming off her best finish of the year as the freshman topped the Sycamores finishing 18th overall in the field following her three-round score 239 (+23).
Morrow and Tai finished one stroke back of their teammate to also finish among the top-20 in the field to pace the Sycamores.
The Braun Intercollegiate will feature a field that includes three other Missouri Valley squads with host Evansville, Illinois Chicago, and Murray State also competing among the 11 teams on the course. Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Chicago state, Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Southern Indiana, and Tennessee State are also slated to tee off on Monday.
