TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State is back on the road this weekend as the Sycamores will compete in the Valley Swimming Showcase held on the campus of the University of Illinois Chicago at the Flames Natatorium. Events will start at 6 p.m. ET on Friday evening, while Saturday afternoon's competition will start at noon ET.
ISU will be one of four teams competing at the facility joining Northern Iowa, Illinois State, and Illinois Chicago over the two-day meet. The meet will be scored like the conference meet with an A-Final and B-Final in each event. Each school will get two entries per event, as well as two entries in the various relays.
"We're looking forward to this weekend and competing against three other conference opponents," head coach
Josh Christensen said. "The meet is a unique format that will provide some really focused, high-quality racing opportunities. We're in the stretch of the Fall where you have to be putting in consistent work in training, but still be ready to race on the weekends. I'm excited to see how we respond to that challenge."
The Sycamores roster continues to boast impressive depth with multiple athletes possessing the potential to make a scoring impact in the 2022-23 season.
Indiana State already showcased how deep the squad rolls in their season opener at Illinois as the Sycamores posted seven event wins against the Fighting Illini including sweeping both the diving and backstroke events. The Sycamores also claimed both the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays and the 100 Freestyle in the opening loss to Illinois.
Some familiar faces dot the top of the Sycamores lineup with multiple athletes already sitting among the Missouri Valley leaders.

Andrea Putrimas (500 Free),
Carmen Alard Vegas (50 Back & 100 Back),
Madie Rutan (200 Back),
Marni Gray (50 Fly & 100 Fly), and
Alexandria Cotter (200 IM) are all sitting among the top-five in their respective events. Diving newcomer

Kaimi Matsumoto,
Peyton Heagy, and
Alexa Szadorski touching the wall in 3:29.54 in the dual meet against Illinois.
