TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – After leading the Sycamores to their first-ever Division I postseason tournament in 2021, Indiana State and head volleyball coach
Lindsay Allman have agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season, Director of Athletics
Sherard Clinkscales announced Monday.
"Lindsay has dug in and has taken our volleyball program to a higher level of competitiveness," Clinkscales said. "I look forward to her continued leadership and passion on and off the court as she teaches and mentors our student-athletes for years to come."
Allman led the Sycamores to an 18-13 overall record in 2021, including a 9-9 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. Indiana State finished sixth in the Valley this season, reaching the semifinals of the conference tournament and earning a spot in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) for the first time in program history. The 18 wins were the most for the Sycamores since the Missouri Valley Conference began sponsoring volleyball.
Madeline Williams earned Second Team All-MVC honors following the season, while
Melina Tedrow was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for the third consecutive season.
Included in Indiana State's 18 wins in 2021 was the second-ever road win at Illinois State and the program's first conference tournament win since 2017. The Sycamores were 10-3 inside the friendly confines of ISU Arena last season, including a clean sweep of the 2021 Sycamore Invitational.
"We have created something special here and we are going to keep it rolling," Allman said. "I am excited for the direction this program is headed and grateful to get to continue to lead these athletes that are a joy to be around every day. Thank you to
Sherard Clinkscales and
Angie Lansing for the trust and support to build this thing right! I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank not only my staff, but our support staffs in Athletic Training, Academics, Strength and Conditioning, Compliance, Sports Information, Facilities and Alumni - you know who you are. Go Trees!"
Allman has developed four conference players of the week, two All-MVC players and two All-MVC Tournament players during her time in Terre Haute, helping develop
Madeline Williams into one of the top middle blockers in the conference. Williams finished her Sycamore career among the program's all-time blocks leaders. In addition,
Melina Tedrow has become a stalwart at libero under Allman's leadership, as she currently ranks second all-time in program history in digs.
In addition to the Sycamores' on-court success, Allman's teams have also achieved high marks in the classroom. Indiana State has earned the AVCA All-Academic Award in each season Allman has been in charge, extending an NCAA-best streak of 23 consecutive years receiving the award. Indiana State has had eight MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selections, three MVC President's Academic Award honorees and 21 MVC Commissioner's Academic Award winners in Allman's five seasons with the program.
Now entering her sixth season at the helm of the Sycamore volleyball program, Allman has led ISU to 53 wins in her first five seasons, including 30 MVC wins. She is the only coach in program history to win an MVC Tournament match, having won conference tournament matches in both 2017 and 2021.
