Center Florence Tshimanga Signs with Sycamore Women’s Basketball

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State head women's basketball coach Chad Killinger announced the addition of Florence Tshimanga on Monday afternoon.

Tshimanga, a 6-3 center from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, joins Sycamore women's basketball after spending two seasons at Southern Methodist University.

"Florence will bring much needed size, athleticism and experience to our roster," Killinger said. "She gives us a physical presence in the paint defensively and is someone who can finish around the rim. We are looking forward to working with her and helping her to continue to pursue her goals, both academically and athletically."

During the 2019-20 season, Tshimanga saw action in 22 games where she scored 30 total points and brought down 32 total rebounds. She recorded a season-high six points against Cincinnati on Feb. 8 and grabbed a season-best five rebounds in the American Athletic Conference Tournament against Memphis. On the year, she finished 12-of-14 (.857) from the charity stripe while also adding 11 blocks and six steals. SMU's 2020-21 season was cut short after only six games.

Tshimanga began her collegiate career at Grand Canyon during the 2017-18 campaign where she played in eight games for the Lopes, including a four-point performance against UNLV.

Prior to her time at Grand Canyon, Tshimanga was a three-time all-star at the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts. At the MacDuffie School she averaged 9.4 points, 4.8 rebounds 3.6 blocks and 1.1 steals per game as a senior.
