SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Indiana State baseball found itself in a familiar situation at Hammons Field Saturday afternoon. The Sycamores led Missouri State 13-2 in the middle of the ninth but were not able to complete the game because of a drop-dead time set in place due to the Double-A Springfield Cardinals homestand taking precedence in the evening.
ISU dropped game two of the series on Saturday morning 4-3 in eight innings as the Bears evened the series. The Sycamores are currently 22-12 overall and 9-5 in Missouri Valley Conference action.
Game Two – Missouri State 4, Indiana State 3 -- Resumption from Friday's Game
Indiana State resumed its suspended game from Friday afternoon on Saturday morning, falling in extras 4-3 to the Bears.
ISU was able to put runners on the corners with two outs, but Jack Duffy made a diving catch in center to end the Sycamore scoring threat in the eighth. Missouri State went on to plate the game-winning run on a sharply hit single through the left side from Mason Hull to claim the victory.
Indiana State tallied three runs in the top on three walks and two base hits to take the first lead of the game Friday.

Sean Ross singled to right field to plate the first run. Freshman
Grant Magill picked up two RBIs with a single down the line in right.
The Bears (16-17, 6-8 MVC) answered back with a two-run home run in the fifth from Hull -- his second homer in as many games.
Missouri State opened the sixth with back-to-back infield singles behind the mound before both runners were able to move into scoring position on a wild pitch. Fenlong would pick up a strikeout before intentionally walking the bases loaded to setup a force at any bag. Fenlong would go on to induce a pair of popups to end the threat and hold MSU scoreless.
MSU led off the seventh with Ben Whetstone chopping a ball off the first-base bag that sailed down the line for a double. He would move to third on a single to the gap in right before coming home a batter later on a sacrifice fly. Fenlong would get a flyout and a ground ball to end the inning.
Zach Frey took the loss for the Sycamores, falling to 0-1 on the season.
Tyler Grauer made the start for the Sycamores, going five complete innings with a no decision. The lefty struck out four and allowed two runs on seven hits. Fenlong went two innings, allowing four hits and striking out one.
Game Three - Indiana State 13, Missouri State 2 -- Game Suspended in the middle of the ninth
Indiana State jumped out to a lead in the second inning with a
Grant Magill RBI single before erupting for seven runs in the fourth.
Jordan Schaffer recorded his second home run of the season with a three-run blast to left before
Ellison Hanna II singled in a run.
Miguel Rivera capped off the inning with another three-run home run to the gap in left to push the Indiana State lead to 8-0.
Tristan Weaver went for a career long eight innings and a season high 10 strikeouts in his outing.
The Sycamores went on to add a run in each the seventh and eighth before scoring three more runs in the top of the ninth.
MSU starting pitcher Hayden Minton went just 3.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and six earned runs.
