SAINT LOUIS – Indiana State soccer freshman Audrey Stephens was named Freshman of the Week by the Missouri Valley Conference Tuesday, March 30, for her performance in the Sycamores' matches last week.
 
Stephens, a North Aurora, Ill. native, made her first career goal a memorable one, finding the back of the net in the 98th minute against Missouri State Sunday afternoon. Stephens, who started her first career match earlier in the week against Loyola, played 78 minutes in the overtime thriller against the Bears. The goal gave ISU its first win over Missouri State in Springfield since 2013.
 
Stephens' Freshman of the Week honor marks the fourth time in five weeks the Sycamores have earned a Missouri Valley Conference weekly award. Sophomore CeCe Wahblerg earned Offensive Player of the Week, Maddie Alexander was named Freshman of the Week, and sophomore Chloee Kooker was named Defensive Player of the Week previously. The only week ISU did not win an award, the team did not play.

Indiana State's 4-2 start to Missouri Valley Conference play is the best start to league play in the program's 20-year history, and ties the Sycamores record for most wins in the Valley with 2013 and 2004.
 
Indiana State returns to the friendly confines of ISU Memorial Stadium Saturday, April 3 for its Senior Day against Northern Iowa, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
