KEY WEEKEND
Indiana State's weekend at Valparaiso was full of key accomplishments for the Sycamore volleyball program. Monday's 3-1 victory over Valpo not only gave the Trees their first set win over the brown and gold since 2017, it marked the first match win over their in-state rival since the 2017 season. Keeping in line with the theme of 2017, the victory over Valparaiso gave the Blue & White their first MVC Tournament berth since the 2017 season when they picked-up their first-ever postseason victory by defeating Drake.Â

CLIMBING THE LADDER
Melina Tedrow continued to climb the history books this weekend after digging in for 39 total digs this weekend against Drake. Tedrow is now boasting 125 career digs, just 10 digs away from surpassing Shannon Murphy for eighth in school history. The junior recorded 19 digs and one assist on Sunday afternoon and followed by a 20 dig, nine assist match on Monday. For the weekend she averaged 5.57 digs per set and is currently fourth in the MVC and 30th in the nation, averaging 5.23 digs per set. She also has the 18th most digs nationally this season with 345.
Â
DIGGING IN
The Sycamore defense has managed to maintain their impressive national numbers throughout the season.
Melina Tedrow is currently 30th in the NCAA with 5.23 digs per set and Indiana State as a team averages 18.62 digs per set, the 15th-best number in the nation. Indiana State's 80-dig performance in a three set-match with Bradley is still the fourth-best number in the NCAA for a three-set match.
Â
OFFENSIVE CHANGES
Last season Indiana State saw themselves towards the bottom of every major offensive statistical category. This season, ISU is first in the Valley in hitting percentage at .203 and is fourth in kills per set at 13.06. ISU also holds the second-best mark in the nation of total attacks in a three-set match with 163 from their Feb. 15 match with Bradley. They also have the fifth-best mark in the NCAA of total attacks in a four-set match from their Feb. 14 match with Bradley when they tallied 201. The Trees are also seventh in the nation in team attacks per set at 40.24 and 51st in total kills at 862.
Â
