TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State volleyball closed out the 2025 season with a loss to Drake in three sets (24-26, 15-25, 10-25). The Sycamores ended their season 9-19 overall and 3-13 in MVC play.

The Sycamores were led by Ella Scott, Curry Kendall, and Kira Holland each with seven kills. Holland also led the defense with 13 digs. Scott and Kendall both had the only blocks of the match. Senior Cadence Gilley saw her first action of the season and recorded a service ace and a dig.
Following the match, Indiana State recognized the three graduating seniors: Cadence Gilley, Emily Weber, and Kimora Whetstone.

Set 1 | Drake 26, Indiana State 24
The Sycamores and the Bulldogs both came out battling. The first 16 points saw four ties and two lead changes. The Sycamores went on a quick 3-1 run for the Trees with kills by Ella Scott and Kira Holland to build a three point lead 12-9. Both teams would continue to battle, however the Sycamores were able to hold the edge over the Bulldogs, building a lead of four on the back of a Cadenace Gilley ace and a Holland kill, 21-17. Despite the Bulldogs attempts, a block by Curry Kendall and Scott kept the Sycamores at a four point lead. Drake continued to fight and after costly errors by the Trees tied the game back up at 23. Despite a service error for the Bulldogs, their offense found momentum to win the set 26-14.

Set 2 | Drake 25, Indiana State 15
Drake continued their hot streak from the end of the first to go on an early 8-0 run. A kill by Scott and a Holland ace attempted to give the momentum back to the Trees, however the Bulldogs' offense could not be stopped and held an early 10-5 lead. Despite the Sycamores' offensive attempts Drake continued to hold the momentum with a nine point lead, 17-9. The score remained almost even before Drake ultimately took the second set, 25-15.

Set 3 | Drake 25, Indiana State 10
The Drake offense continued to keep the momentum on their side by opening up with a 14-4 run. Despite attempts by the Sycamores offense they struggled to find holes in the Bulldogs defense. The Sycamores hit -0.026% in the final set.
