TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State softball finished off their fall slate of games with a sweep of their doubleheader against Wabash Valley College.
The Sycamores won game one 19-0 which included a 16-run fifth inning. Game two was a 14-4 victory to complete the sweep.
"The offense was clicking for us. It's good to see our hitters' string quality at-bats together. Our pitchers were able to work out of some jams early on and the defense made some crucial plays behind them. I thought the team played with a lot of energy which helps make us better," Head coach
Mike Perniciaro said.
The games were played at Terre Haute South High School due to ongoing renovations at Price Field.
Game One
Lyndsi Adamson started the game and went three scoreless innings.
Lexi Benko would replace her and finish out the game with four innings of work to maintain the shutout.
The Sycamores held a 3-0 lead entering the fifth inning before they exploded for 16 runs, including home runs from
Amanda Guercio and
Annie Tokarek.
Bella Peterson had two doubles in the inning, driving in four runs.

Danielle Henning,
Abi Chipps,
Cassie Thomerson and
Livi Colip all drove in runs help give Indiana State a 19-0 lead.
The game's final two innings had no runs cross the plate and the Sycamores would take game one 19-0.
Game Two
Cassi Newbanks started and pitched all five innings of game two.
Indiana State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning which included a
TeAnn Bringle two-RBI single.
Wabash Valley would score two in the top of the second to make it a 3-2 same. The Sycamores answered quickly with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-2 lead.
Danielle Henning worked a bases loaded walk to drive in a run and
Bella Peterson plated two with a single.
The Sycamores entered the bottom of the fourth inning with a 6-4 lead before batting around and scoring eight runs in the inning to make it 14-4.
The eight-run inning included a two-RBI double from
Kennedy Shade and a two-RBI single from
Kaylee Barrett.
Newbanks ended the game with a 1-2-3 inning to seal the 14-4 victory.
Spring Season Awaits
The Sycamores finished their fall schedule with a 7-1 record.
"I really liked the way we competed during our fall season. Our freshmen got some valuable game experience which will help ease their transition into the collegiate level," Coach Perniciaro said. "We had a lot of learning opportunities that will help us grow as a team. It was great to see our upperclassmen lead and set an example of how to do things the right way."
