URBANA, Ill. – Indiana State put together one of its strongest offensive innings of the season and continued to compete throughout the night, highlighted by a four-run surge in the third and multiple extra-base swings, as the Sycamores battled in a 9–5 matchup at Illinois on Tuesday at Eichelberger Field.

After Illinois opened the scoring in the first, the Sycamores responded with a momentum-shifting third inning. Morgan Goodrich jump-started the rally with a double to right-center, her third of the season,  before Madison Poulson followed with an RBI double down the left-field line to put ISU on the board. Addie Burns extended the inning with a walk, setting the stage for Claire Connelly, who launched her first home run of the year, a three-run shot to left that tied the game at 4–4 and energized the Sycamore dugout.

Indiana State continued to create pressure in the fourth as Hannah Welch tripled to right-center, her second triple of the season, keeping the offense rolling into the middle innings. The Sycamores added another run in the seventh when Bella Pusateri came around to score on a Goodrich ground ball, closing the night with positive momentum.

ISU finished with five hits, including three extra-base swings, and reached base in four different innings. Defensively, the Sycamores settled in after the first frame and held Illinois to just one run across the second and third innings while making several clean plays around the infield.

Indiana State has now produced 14 runs over its last four games and continues to show growth at the plate with contributions from both veteran leaders and emerging underclassmen.
