NORMAL, Ill. – Jocelyn Quiles highlighted the MVC Championships for Indiana State cross country Friday in Normal, Illinois. The redshirt senior paced the women and finished seventh overall in the women's 6K to earn All-MVC honors. The Sycamore men placed sixth overall with 145 points and the ISU women placed seventh with 160 points, holding a tiebreaker over Northern Iowa.
Meet organizers issued corrected results late Friday night, correcting a scoring decision that moved the ISU women from eighth to seventh overall. Drake claimed the team title on the men's side while Loyola took the women's title for the third consecutive season.
In what was a muddy and rain-soaked track at Weibring Golf Course, all five Sycamore men that scored finished in the top-40 led by Indiana State veteran
Cael Light who paced the way with a time of 25:27.7 to finish 21st overall. Jason Dworak (26th - 25:40.5) and
Logan Pietzrak (29th - 25:44.8) also recorded top-30 performances.
Rounding out the scoring for the ISU men were
Wyatt Wyman (32nd - 25:49.1) and
Cale Kilian (37th - 26:00.3).
Quiles, an O'Fallon, Mo. product, recorded back-to-back top-10 finishes with a seventh-place finish in the women's 6K to lead the way for the Sycamores. Her time of 21:26.6 was just six seconds out of sixth place with an average mile of 5:44.9.
Sydney Partyka finished with a time of 22:19.6 to place 24th in the field while
Erica Barker rounded out the top scorers with a 27th place finish with a time of 22:24.4.
