PEORIA, Ill. – Veteran
Jocelyn Quiles cemented her name in the Indiana State cross country record book Friday afternoon as the Sycamores continued their preparation for the MVC Championships later this month at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois. The Sycamore men placed 23rd while the Sycamore women placed 24th. The Sycamore men tallied 516 points while the women finished with 540 points.
Quiles, a redshirt senior from O'Fallon, Mo., placed eighth in the women's 6K to lead the way for the Sycamores. Her time of 21:10.9 was the fourth-fastest completion of the event in program history and the best finish since 2017 when Taylor Austin finished in 21 minutes flat.
Sydney Partyka finished with a time of 22:10.4 to place 58th in the field while
Erica Barker (115th - 22:41.7),
Morgan Dyer (178th – 23:11.5) and
Maggie Falater (215th – 23.36.6) also scored for ISU.
Indiana State freshman
Cael Light paced the men with a time of 25:18.1 in the 8K to finish 83rd overall. Senior
Cale Kilian finished just seven seconds behind (25:25.5) to take 98th overall.
Logan Pietzrak (25:26.7),
Negus Bogard (25:28.3) and
Jay Dworak (25:37.9) finished 102nd, 108th and 139th respectively to round out the scoring for the men.
After an off weekend, the team will return to action on October 29 at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Normal, Illinois.
