NOTES
- The Series: Indiana State and Northern Kentucky meet for the eighth time on Monday, with NKU holding a 5-2 advantage in the series. The Sycamores won the last matchup in Terre Haute in 2016, 58-38.Â
- Newcomer of the Week: Jamyra McChristine was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week last week for her efforts against Marshall and Murray State. Against Murray State the junior recorded her second double-double of the season behind a 15 point/14 rebound performance.
- A Win Would: A win on Monday evening would end Indiana State's five game losing streak, as well as give the Sycamores their first winning streak in the all-time series against Northern Kentucky. The Sycamores won the last matchup in 2016, 58-38, but had lost five straight in the series prior to that.
- Defending the Triple: Indiana State has faced no shortage of strong three-point shooting teams in their first nine games of the season, but has excelled in shutting down the three-point arc. ISU has held opponents to 45/169 from behind the line, just an average of 26.6% per-game which is the best in the Valley and 52nd nationally. Northern Kentucky enters Monday's contest shooting 29.7% from behind the line.
- Hitting the Boards: Through their first nine games, ISU can boast themselves as one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Trees have pulled down 126 offensive boards in nine games, giving them an average of 14.0 per-game. LeAndra Echi is currently fourth in the Valley in rebounds-per-game, pulling down an average of 8.4.
- It Starts with Defense: The Sycamores have established themselves as one of the better defensive teams in the Valley early in the season, recording 84 steals through nine games for an average of 9.33 steals-per-game, third-best in the MVC. Freshmen Del'Janae Williams and Sommer Pitzer own the second and sixth most steals-per-game in the league with averages of 2.3 and 1.8, respectively.
