INDIANA STATE NOTES
NOTES
- The Series: Tuesday's game between Colorado and Indiana State marks the first meeting between the Buffaloes and Sycamores.
- A Rare Occasion: Indiana State's matchup with Colorado on Tuesday marks just the third time in program history that the blue and white meet at PAC-12 team. ISU defeated California, 52-48 in 1996 and fell to UCLA, 102-73, in 1976.
- It Starts with Defense: The Sycamores have established themselves as one of the better defensive teams in the Valley early in the season, recording 41 steals through three games for an average of 10.25 steals-per-game, best in the MVC. Freshmen Del'Janae Williams and Sommer Pitzer own the second and third most steals-per-game in the league with averages of 2.8 and 2.5, respectively.
- Hitting the Boards: Through their first four games, ISU can boast themselves as the best offensive rebounding team in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Trees have pulled down 61 boards in four games, giving them an average of 15.3 per-game, nearly two rebounds better than Loyola who is second in the Valley.
- Echi in Control: Junior LeAndra Echi continues to be a floor general for the Trees, as she recorded her second double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds against UIC on last Tuesday. In addition to her double-double, Echi is second in the Valley in blocks-per-game with 1.5 (six against UIC), as well as fifth in rebounds-per-game with 8.3.
- Williams Takeover: Freshman Del'Janae Williams had her best game in a Sycamore uniform last Tuesday against UIC. The Detroit, Mich., native put up a career-high 23 points, including five triples, and played lock-down defense for seven steals during the game.
