VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Indiana State women's cross country team had their best performance of the year on Saturday at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, placing third overall as a team in wet and muddy conditions.

The women, who were projected to finish fourth in the pre-championship poll, placed third with 92 points, falling only to Loyola (17) and Bradley (64). The women defeated Illinois State (133), Missouri State (146), Northern Iowa (163), Southern Illinois (168), Drake (215), Valparaiso (234) and Evansville (249).

ISU placed eighth as a team on the men's side with 220 points, defeating Evansville who tallied 279. Bradley was crowned the Valley champion with 17 points, the lowest point total at an MVC Championship since 1957, defeating Drake (74), Northern Iowa (94), Loyola (98), Valparaiso (134), Illinois State (136), Southern Illinois (170), Indiana State (220) and Evansville (279).

Sycamore standout
Brooke Moore closed out her ISU career by earning All-MVC Cross Country honors for the fourth-consecutive year. The redshirt senior led the Trees in sixth, crossing the finish line in eighth with a time of 18:25.67. As a Sycamore, Moore earned three Valley championships, nine All-MVC honors and scored three additional times.

Moore wasn't the only member of the blue and white to perform well in the mud, as fellow senior
Alli Workman earned MVC Honorable Mention honors for the second year in-a-row. Workman clocked a time of 18:47.19 en route to a 13th place finish, ending as the second scorer for the women.

Jocelyn Quiles and
Michaela Ward finished as the third and fourth scorers for the blue and white, both ending in the top-25 as well. Quiles was right outside of Honorable Mention honors, taking 17th overall with a time of 18:55.58, while Ward took 22nd at 19:07.35.
Tara Cassidy rounded out the scoring for the women, as the redshirt sophomore crossed the line in 36th at 19:35.24.

On the men's side, sophomore
Noah Hufnagel led the way in the 8K race, recording a time of 25:58.80 en route to a 23rd place finish. He was followed by
Cale Kilian in 45th who ended with a time of 26:55.50.

Isaac Bentz ended as the third scorer for ISU on Saturday, finishing 51st at 27:17.93 while
Jackson Krieg was close behind in 53rd at 27:30.46. Just Niederhaus was the last Sycamore scorer on the men's side, placing 57th and clocking a time of 28:11.43.

The Sycamores' season isn't over yet, as the teams will take a two week break before traveling to Wisconsin for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 15.
