Sycamore Soccer Adds 10 Signees For 2019

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer head coach Julie Hanley announced today the signing of 10 student-athletes to a National Letter Of Intent. The Sycamores will welcome all 10 members of the class in time for the 2019 fall campaign.
 
We are extremely excited with the make-up of our National Signing Day class," coach Hanley said. "This class will mesh well with our returnees and addresses needs we have at certain positions. We will be young next year but each of our signees is poised to come in and compete for playing time right away. I am excited about the nucleus of youthful talent we will have on board in 2019."
 
Here is a look at each of today's signees:
 
Tara Hoffman
5-6, Goalkeeper
Centennial, Colo. / Millennium HS / Heritage HS
 
High School: Tara Hoffman lettered in softball and soccer at Heritage High School … She was named to the all-league second team as a soccer player … She recorded 13 shutouts as a senior in soccer at Milliennium … Played for the Colorado Storm
 
Personal: Born Tara Lynn Hoffman on August 9, 2001 … Daughter of Mike and Chris Hoffman … Majoring in Nursing.  
Celeste Wahlberg
5-6, Midfielder
South Elgin, Ill. / St. Charles North HS
 
High School: Lettered for four seasons at St. Charles North High School … Was named all-conference as a junior after her team advanced to super sectionals … Team also advanced to super sectionals during her sophomore campaign … Played for the Campton United SC in St. Charles, Ill. … Competed in nationals three times and last summer advanced to the championship game where they finished as runner up … Won four state cup championships.
 
Personal: Born Celeste Marie Wahlberg on July 19, 2001 … Daughter of Tim and Stacey Wahlberg … Undecided on a major … Two siblings play collegiate soccer, Elli is at Wisconsin-White Water and Gia plays at Michigan State.

High School: As a junior was named all-area, all-conference, all-district, all-region and First Team All-State Division II … Also picked for the State of Michigan Dream Team … In basketball was named all-area honorable mention and well as all-conference honorable mention … Scored 20 goals with 12 assists as a junior … Team was the I-8 Conference Champions as well as tournament champions … Earned District Championship and was a regional finalist … Earned all-area, all-conference, all-district, all-region and First Team All-State Division II as a sophomore … Won team's best offensive player award and team MVP … Scored 32 goals with 10 assists as a sophomore … Team won regular season, tournament and district championship … Class B Final Four and Team Academic All-State … Tallied 19 goals and four assists as a freshman before earning all-area, all-conference, all-district, all-region and second team all-state … Named team's Best Offensive Player … Team won the I-8 Conference, Tournament and District Championship … Played for the Kingdom Soccer Club in Kalamazoo, Michigan … Earned the 2018 State Cup Championship, went 21-0 in 2018 … State Cup semifinalist with a two-year record of 44-2-2.

High School: First team all-conference and all-district as a junior … Named her team's Defensive Player of the Year and was team captain … Earned the scholar-athlete award with a perfect GPA of 4.0 … Scored six goals with three assists … Missouri Class 3 Third Place plus regional, district and conference champions … Record of 23-2-0 … Defeated the USA Today No. 1 ranked team to advance to state tournament … As a sophomore she was named all-conference second team … all-district first team and scholar-athlete awards .. Tallied three goals with eight assists and led the team in minutes played … Led the team to the district and conference championships with a record of 19-5 … named all-conference, all-district and defensive player of the year following her freshman season … scored 11 goals and was credited with 18 assists … Played for KC Athletics in Kansas City, Mo … Was named the 2018 Sporting Fall Classic Tournament MVP … Scored six goals with one assist during the fall of 2018 … Four-time State Champion and State Finalist at the 2014 Region II Championships … From 2015-2018 at the USYS National League Midwest Regional won the championship.

High School: As a junior was named an all-state honorable mention selection as well as all-league, all-district and all-region … Recorded three goals and 11 assists … Picked up a district championship and was a regional finalist … Named to the All-State Academic team and earned a national team academic award … Scored two goals with eight assists as a sophomore after taking all-district honors … Team earned a District Championship and was a regional finalist … Once again earned all-state academic and national academic team award … National Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award … Played for the Michigan Hawks in Livonia, Mich. … National Union '01 Black …. Michigan State Cup Champions … Midwest Regional Championships in 2017 and National Champions.
 
Personal: Born Isabella Rose Hunter on August 14, 2001 … Daughter of Mark and Rosalyn Hunter … Majoring in Pre-Pharmacy at Indiana State.

High School: Three-year varsity letterwinner in soccer and track and field … 2018 Iowa High School Soccer Championship Runner Up … Named the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year and was a 2017 Track and Field Qualifer in the high jump, 400 meter hurdles, 4 x 400 relay … Team was a finalist for the 2017 Iowa High School Soccer Championship … As a freshman, named to the CIC All Girls Division Honorable Mention for soccer and a track and field qualifier for 4 x 400 and 400 meter hurdles … Qualified for the state track meet in the 4 x 400 meter relay as a freshman … Played for the Iowa Rush … Team Captain for the U16 … 2018 and 2017 Iowa State Cup Soccer Champions as well as a 2016 runner up … 2016 Iowa ODP Player.

Personal: Born Anna Grace Holcombe on June 13, 2001 … Daughter of Frank and Laura Holcombe… Majoring in Exercise Science.

High School: Played for Sporting Developmental Academy during her junior and senior seasons … As a sophomore was named honorable mention all-conference and first team all-state … Her team won the HS State Championship … She scored eight goals with six assists … As a freshman scored five goals and two assists for the Kansas State Champions … Played for Sporting Blue Valley DA where she recorded eight goals and seven assists and the team is currently ranked in first place in the conference.  
Personal: Born Courtney Ann Kooken on May 8, 2001 … Daughter of Edward and Carrie Kooken … Majoring in Social Studies Education.

High School: Played for the Iowa Rush who captured the 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Iowa State Cup Championships … Won the MRL Premier 1 Championship in 2017 … In 2018, Ankeny HS was the Iowa State Champion Runner Up … An All-State and All-Conference selection in 2017 & 2018 … In 2017, Des Moines Register All-Iowa First Team … Member of the Rush Select National Team from 2012-2016 … ODP Region II Team Champions as well as ODP National Champions … ECNL National Playoffs in 2014 with the Dallas Texans … Member of the National Honor Society and earned HS All-Academic Honors in both 2017 and 2018.
