TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Sycamores are back in action on Aug. 20 inside Memorial Stadium to take on the Panthers of Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m.
ISU is coming off a 2-0 shutout win over Illinois-Chicago in their 2017 season opener. Many Sycamores performed exceptionally well during the match, but one stood out among the rest.
Junior defender
Reilly Teal came away with both goals in the match vs. UIC while playing outside midfield, an entirely new position for the product out of Lexington, Ky.
Teal's first goal came in the 29
th minute of the game off a
Caitlyn Eddy corner kick. When the ball dropped into the box a scrum occurred, but Teal came away with it and fired a shot into the net giving Indiana State an early 1-0 lead.
The Sycamores remained strong going into halftime and continued this momentum into the second half. In the 70
th minute Teal found herself in front of goal yet again when
Jazlyn Rowan played a beautiful pass forward and Teal managed to beat a UIC defender before slotting a shot into the far post for her second goal on the day.
Indiana State will face off with the EIU Panthers on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
EIU enters the match coming off a 2-0 win over IUPUI. Two players scored for the Panthers, Sarah DeWolf in the 25
th minute off a thru ball and Kate Olson in the 72
nd minute picking up a loose ball and firing it into the net.
The Panthers finished the 2016 season with a 5-13 record.
