Terre Haute, Ind.—Indiana State defeated the Drake Bulldogs for their first conference win of 2016 by a score of 3 to 2.
The Sycamores came back from a two to zero deficit on a rainy night at Memorial Stadium. Indiana State allowed two goals in the first half.
In the 20th minute of play Brooke Salisbury put away Drake's first goal of the night off a Kasey Hurt corner kick. Five minutes later Hurt crossed another ball in and found Cassie Rohan in the box for the Bulldogs second goal of the night.
The energy shifted into ISU's favor in the second half.
Indiana State had seven shots in the second half and held Drake to only two. The Sycamores also took four corner kicks with Brittany San Roman making two saves.
ISU's first goal came in the 69th minute of play when Maddie Orf headed home a Katie Wells corner kick. Wells then added the equalizer in the 79th minute off a long cross from Katie Sullivan that she headed off of a bounce over Drake's keeper. The game winner came from sophomore Kayla Schrubb in the 83rd minute of play. Schrubb placed the ball in the upper right corner from the top of the 18 after the ball deflected off a Drake defender. This was her first goal of the season.
Wells now leads the Sycamores with 16 points and remains tied with Orf for leading goal scorer at 5.
