Terre Haute, Ind.—Indiana State women's soccer came out on top against the Fort Wayne Mastodons by a score of 3-0. This improves the Sycamores overall record to 5-7.
Katie Wells led the Sycamore's offensive attack with one goal and one assist. Wells put ISU on the board in the 30th minute when she beat the goalie in the box and found the back of the net in the upper left corner. Wells added an assist on the third goal of the game when Maddie Orf scored a header off of a corner kick.
Gaelen Stejbach earned her third goal of the season in the 45th minute. Stejbach shot from the top of the 18 yard box and found the left corner of the Mastodons net. The Sycamores took 23 shots during the match with seven shots on goal.
Indiana State earned their fifth shutout of the season.
Defensively the Sycamores only allowed 12 shots and three corner kicks. Brittany San Roman made six saves during the game playing the full 90 minutes.
ISU is back in action at home in their second conference match of 2016. On Sept. 30th at 7:00 p.m. the Sycamores face off with the Drake Bulldogs at Memorial Stadium.
This match will also serve as the annual CODA game and will work to raise awareness and funds to help fight domestic violence.
