Terre Haute, Ind.—The Sycamores fell to Kent State tonight by a score of two to one.
Indiana State now holds a 4-5 record for the 2016 season. Kent State outshot the Sycamores with 17 shots to ISU's eight. The Sycamores led with four shots on goal and Kent State only had two but capitalized on both opportunities.
Kent State first got on the board in the 15th minute when Jenna Hellstrom crossed the ball into the box to find the head of Kristen Brots who put the ball into the back of the Sycamore net. The second Kent State goal came in the 18th minute of play when Hellstrom broke away past Sycamore defenders and finished a shot from 10 yards out.
Indiana State tallied one goal of the night late in the game during the 84th minute of play. Maddie Orf sent a long ball into Katie Wells who finished the ball from close range by passing it past the Kent State keeper. Wells is now the Sycamores leading point scorer with 10 and is tied for leading goal scorer at three.
The Sycamores return to action on Sept. 18 in Toledo, Ohio to face off with the Rockets at 1:00 p.m.
