TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State women's golf head coachÂ
Greg Towne announced today (Dec. 14) that he has signed Sydney Parrish to a national letter of intent. Parrish is set to join the program in time for the 2017-2018 season.
"Sydney comes recommended to our program by a former PGA Tour player and instructor," Towne said. "She is still fairly new to the game but has athleticism and a keen desire to be the best she can be. She has a nice pedigree with an athletic and outdoor minded family that she enjoys hunting and basketball with. Sydney is very focused and mature and will fit in nicely with what will be mostly juniors next year. She is graduating high school early, does well in the classroom and will be studying pre-med."
Parrish is a native of Washington, Mo., where she plays for Washington High School. Her first year of playing competitive golf was 2015 and she earned first team all-conference and all-district honors. In 2016, she took home medalist honors in six of her nine matches and was once against named first team all-conference and all-district.
Her parents are Mitch and Kimber Parrish and her siblings are Kali, Hunter (who was a collegiate golfer at Columbia College) and Conner. She played basketball until her sophomore year of high school when she decided to concentrate on golf.
Indiana State is currently on a winter break from its golf schedule, but resumes on February 26-28 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. The Sycamores will host the ISU Spring Invitational on April 9-10 at The Country Club of Terre Haute and travel to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship from April 16-18 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
