EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana State women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to the University of Evansville on a wet Wednesday night in Evansville. With the loss, the Sycamores drop to 4-8-3, and 1-3 in Valley play. Evansville improves to 9-4-3, and 2-1-1 in conference play.
In goal for the Sycamores, Brittany San Roman played another full match, recording nine saves and allowing two goals. Evansville shot a total of 20 times with 12 being on goal. The Sycamores added one team save.
For the Purple Aces, Simone Busby played the full match in net, recording 6 saves on 17 Sycamore shots. This is the seventh time the Sycamores have been shutout this season.
Offensively for ISU, Kayla Welch and Sydney Loesing were the leaders for the Sycamores. Loesing and Welch each tallied four shots in the match. Maddie Orf and Natalie Vaught added two shots on goal in the match.
For Evansville, Bronwyn Boswell scored two goals in the match. Goals came in the third and 60th minutes. Kayla Smith led with six shots in the match, five on goal.
The Purple Aces struck first in the third minute. Boswell brought the ball to the top of the box and took the shot from 18 yards out. San Roman got her hands on it but the ball deflected into the top right corner of the net.
The second goal for Boswell came in the 60th minute, when Kayla Smith played a ball in from the far left wing. Boswell was able to corral the pass and find the netting to add to the Purple Aces' lead.
The Sycamores return to action Sunday, October 19th when they travel to Normal, Illinois to take on the Illinois State Redbirds. The Redbirds are currently first in the Valley with a record of 10-5, and 4-0 in conference play.
