Kate Johnson's Two Goals Not Enough As Sycamores Fall 5-2 To Toledo

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Sophomore Kate Johnson found the back of the net twice but it was not enough as the Sycamores (3-5) fell 5-2 on the road to the Rockets of Toledo (3-4).

The Rockets got on the board first when they took a 1-0 lead over the Sycamores in the 12th minute. Just before the end of the half, the Rockets extended their lead over the Sycamores to 2-0 with just three minutes left before halftime.

After halftime the Sycamores wasted no time in cutting into the Toledo lead when Johnson found the back of the net just four minutes into the second half off an assist from sophomore midfielder Sydney Lovelace.

Toledo responded, however, less than a minute to retake 1-3 lead over the Sycamores. The Rockets then extended their lead to 4-1 in the 60th minute.

In the 72nd minute, Johnson again sent a shot into the goal off an assist from senior midfielder Taylor Hancock to cut the Toledo lead to 4-2.

Toledo once again responded with a quick score and went on to defeat the Sycamores by a final score of 5-2.

The Sycamores will return to action Sunday when they continue on their four-match road trip with a stop at Ypsilanti, Mich. For a match against Eastern Michigan. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
