Box Score

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Women's Basketball team pulled out a win it when it needed it most as it survived a second half comeback by Butler, 62-56, on Saturday afternoon. The Sycamores improved to 4-5 overall and snapped a three-game losing streak in front of over 2,500 fans at the Hulman Center.

ISU was backed by a game-high 13 points by senior guard Anna Munn, whose clutch long range 3-pointer with eight seconds left helped ice the game. Butler was knocking at the door as it cut the Sycamores' 20 point lead down to seven with 2:41 remaining.

The Bulldogs (5-6) used a four point run to come within three as Munn hit the long 3-pointer as the shot clock expired. Munn also stretched the lead to six with two free throws with three seconds remaining as ISU earned its first win of December.

The Sycamores finally gained a competitive edge on the boards by out-rebounding the Bulldogs, 46-31, on the afternoon for their largest rebounding margin of the season. Junior forward Racheal Mahan posted a season-high 15 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, in the win accompanied by nine points. Sophomore forward Marina Laramie chipped in 10 rebounds of her own along with nine points and three assists.

Shooting the second-best best field goal percentage of the season (44.2 percent), the Sycamores posted a season-best 46.2 percent (6-for-13) from behind the arc. Junior guard Stephanie Wittman and Munn combined for five of the six ISU 3-pointers.

Indiana State led by 14 at the half behind 10 first half points apiece from Abdul-Qaadir and Wittman. They took command of the game early in the first half after a lay-in by Abdul-Qaadir put ISU up 21-9 with 11:39 to play as part of a 10-2 run. Wittman scored all 10 of her points in the first half and led the ISU bench that scored 19 points on the afternoon.

Butler would battle back and come within seven on a three pointer by Blaire Langlois, but a fast break layup by Wittman stretched the lead back to 11 with 1:54 to play in the first half. They were led by Ijeoma Uchendu with 12 points and four boards and Taylor Schippers who added 11 points and five rebounds. Forward Haley Howard posted a team-high eight rebounds.
