TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Women's Soccer team used a goal by freshman forward Abby Reed in the 37th minute to defeat Missouri Valley Conference leader Evansville, 1-0, for their first league win of the season on Wednesday evening at Memorial Stadium.

The game was a battle from the opening kick as the two teams remained scoreless until the 37th minute when Abby Reed found the back of the net for her seventh goal on the season on an assist by sophomore forward Kylie Sumner.

Reed's goal ties her for a team-high in goals with 7 and has 16 points. Sumner records her first assist of the season.

ISU (6-8-0, 1-2-0 MVC) spread the wealth on offense as it recorded 15 shots with sophomore midfielder Kate Johnson recorded four shots while Abby Reed and junior midfielder Emily Chura each had two shots.

The Sycamores held the Purple Aces (9-3-2, 2-1-1) to just two shots on the evening and just one shot on goal. Freshman goalie Brittany San Roman recorded the lone save and moved to 4-6-0 for the season.

Next up for the Sycamores is a MVC matchup as they face Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
