HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Indiana State baseball team turned in their third shutout in four games during the 2012 Bulldog Classic in Huntsville, Ala., allowing just three hits while topping Alabama A&M 7-0 on Sunday.

Indiana State outscored their opponents 37-2 during the weekend tournament, pushing their record to 4-3 on the season. While in Huntsville, the team combined to hit .357 at the plate while the pitching staff carried a slim 0.50 ERA.

The Sycamores got moving quickly on Sunday, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. Freshman Landon Curry led off the game with a single to left field before moving to third with one out on a single to right field by junior Robby Ort. Senior Jon Hedges brought Curry home with a sacrifice fly before senior Kyle Burnam picked up a two-out RBI with a single down the right field line.

ISU added four more runs in the fourth inning to push their lead to 6-0. Redshirt junior Koby Kraemer brought senior Ryan Walterhouse and Curry across the plate with a two-run double to left. Junior Jeremy Lucas tallied the next two RBIs, sending a pitch over the left field wall for a two-run home run, his first of the season.

Walterhouse brought in ISU's final run of the day, singling to left field in the fifth inning to plate Burnam.

Freshman Kyle Rupe (1-0) earned the victory on the mound, allowing just one hit and no walks over five innings with four strikeouts. Senior Brandon Dorsett, senior Brandon Flora, sophomore Kurt Kudrecki, sophomore Josh Negele and junior Devin Moore all saw time on the mound out of the ISU bullpen, combining for four shutout innings of work. The five relievers on Sunday allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out one batter each and five overall.

Curry led the team with three hits and a pair of runs scored. Kraemer and Ort each tallied a pair of hits, with Kraemer and Lucas each driving in a pair of runs.

Indiana State closes out their 10-game road swing to begin the 2012 season next weekend, as the Sycamores travel to Richmond, Ky., for a three-game set on Friday, March 2, through Sunday, March 4, with Eastern Kentucky.
