EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State
senior Christina Beyerl recorded a career best finish and a career best 36-hole
total as she led the Sycamores to a second place finish at the Charles Braun
Jr., Intercollegiate at Quail Crossing Golf Club in Boonville, Ind., Tuesday.
“We
could have won but fought back nicely to beat some programs that had been
beating us historically,” Greg Towne, Indiana State women's golf coach, said. “So
all in all, it was a nice effort. All the girls gave their best effort on every
shot in some pretty brutal weather.”
Beyerl
finished in second place with a career low 153 total for 36 holes after rounds
of 77 on Monday and 76 Tuesday. Beyerl's previous best finish came at the Saluki
Invitational in 2011 where she finished in fourth with a 158 total for 36
holes.
“She
did a good job,” Towne said of Beyerl. “I expect a nice spring out of her.”
