EVANSVILLE, IND. – Two Sycamores are
in the top 10 and Indiana State is tied for second after the first day of the
Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate which concluded Monday at the Quail Crossing
Golf Club in Boonville, Ind. The tournament is hosted by the University of
Evansville.
Junior
McCall Christopher and senior Christina Beyerl each shot a 77 in Monday's
opening round and are tied for sixth in the individual standings. Senior Emily
Dixon and sophomore Amanda Smith posted posted 80s in the first round and are
tied for 18 th while sophomore Gina Della Camera posted an 8 6 and is tied for
41st.
Also
competing as individuals for Indiana State are sophomores Andrea Frankiewicz
and Erinn Sutton who both shot an opening round 87 to be tied 46th.
Southern
Illinois has a six shot lead over Indiana State as the Salukis posted a 308 in
the opening round. Indiana State and Northern Iowa each shot 314 with Eastern
Kentucky fourth at 320 and Butler fifth at 325. Evansville is currently sixth
at 326 with Dayton seventh (328), SIU Edwardsville ninth (330), Creighton 10th
(331), Southern Indiana 11th (335), and Nebraska-Omaha 12th (345).
Butler's
Isabella Lambert posted an even par 72 to lead the field with SIU's Shaina
Rennegarbe and Northern Iowa's Alex Zenor tied for second at 75. UNI's Kaylee
Benson and Eastern Kentucky's Nicki Henry are tied for fourth after posting 76s
in the opening round.
The
final round of the tournament will begin at noon on Tuesday with a shot gun
start.
