ST. LOUIS - Indiana State senior Tyler Kent was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week it was announced today by the league office. Fellow senior Kacie Klem was named a notable performer in women's cross country.
Kent made a successful return to the cross country course after having to miss the 2010 season, leading Indiana State with a third place finish at the Evansville Mid-America Opener on an extremely hot and sunny Saturday in Southern Indiana. Kent ran the 6K course in 18:48 and led three other Sycamores into the top 10 as the Indiana State was edged by Louisville 32-39 in the five-team field.
Klem paced the Indiana State women to the team title at the Evansville Mid-America Opener as she completed the 4K event in 14:51. She led five other ISU runners into the top 10 as Indiana State rolled to the victory with 19 points. Louisville was second with 51 points.
Aliphine Tuliamuk of Wichita State received the MVC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor.
