DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake Bulldogs tied the score with under four minutes remaining in regulation and went on to win the match 2-1 in double overtime, as the Indiana State Sycamores came up just short in a Missouri Valley Conference match at the Cownie Soccer Complex.

The loss is the fifth straight for ISU, who falls to 3-9-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in MVC play. DU improves to 3-5-4 overall and 1-1-0 in league action.

Indiana State and Drake battled through a scoreless opening 45 minutes, with senior Ashley Collins recording ISU's best scoring chance of the half.

In the eighth minute, fellow senior Jessica Rosenberg worked down the right wing, sending a cross into the box that went over a trio of Drake defenders to Collins at the back post, but the senior's shot hit the side-netting of the goal.

At the half, Drake led 6-5 in shots, while Indiana State led 4-3 in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also took the only corner kick of the first half. Individually, Collins led ISU with a pair of shots, while senior Emily Lahay made three saves between the posts.

Indiana State scored the game's opening goal in the 59th minute, coming on a shot by sophomore Shelby Troyer on the left side of the penalty box. Senior Katie Geyman started the play, sending a cross towards the penalty box from the right wing that found the head of freshman Natalie Vaught. Vaught controlled the pass and worked her way past a pair of Drake defenders before slotting a pass to an unmarked Troyer on the left side of the box. Troyer scored her first goal of the season with a shot to the back post.

Following their goal, the Sycamores did a good job of controlling possession and the flow of the match over the next 20 minutes, but the Bulldogs were able to level the score in the 85th minute. Tara Zika began the play by finding Paige Dusek cutting down the right wing, after running at the ISU defense from midfield. Dusek's cross into the box found Danielle Figliola, who headed the ball to the far post for the game-tying goal.

Indiana State nearly caught Drake before the end of regulation, as Vaught's pass over the top of the DU defense found Rosenberg running alone at goal. Rosenberg stormed at DU goalkeeper Kalena Litch, but the 1-v-1 opportunity ended with Litch blocking Rosenberg's shot at the top of the penalty box.

Drake scored the game-winner with under four minutes remaining in the match, as Dusek's cross from the left wing found Figliola in the six-yard box. Figliola got just enough of a touch with her head to beat Lahay at the near post to send the Bulldogs to victory.

For the match, Drake led 21-9 in shots, 11-6 in shots on goal and 5-2 in corner kicks. Troyer scored her first goal of the season for ISU, while Vaught tallied her team-leading fourth assist. Lahay finished the match with nine saves in goal.

Indiana State remains on the road this weekend, closing out their nonconference schedule with a match at Loyola (Chicago) on Sunday, Oct. 2. The Sycamores and Ramblers will take the field at 2:00 p.m. (ET).
