CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. ? Five members of the 2010-2011 Indiana State women's golf team were recognized as All-American Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). Recognized for their academic achievement were Christina Beyerl, McCall Christopher, Emily Dixon, Britney Martin, and Diana Price.

“These individuals showed that they are not only great athletes but also great students,” Greg Towne, Indiana State women's golf coach, said. “They worked long hours on the fundamentals of the golf game during the season but were also able to excel in the classroom which is the kind of athlete that we look for to represent Indiana State. I am very proud of these young ladies.”

Price was selected for the third straight year joining former Sycamores Kayley Bodine and Breanna Smith as three-time recipients. Dixon was selected for the second straight year and joins former ISU athlete Kelsea Ice as two-time recipients. It was the first honor for Beyerl, Christopher, and Martin.

Two of the five were seniors on the 2010-2011 team. Price completed her senior season as a Sycamore with a 3.4636 grade point average (GPA) while majoring in Physical Education/Exercise Science and Martin posted a 3.7612 GPA while majoring in Social Studies Education.

Dixon completed her second season with the Sycamores with a 3.9533 GPA while majoring in Athletic Training. Beyerl and Christopher were freshmen on last year's team with Beyerl posting a 3.4795 GPA while majoring in Psychology and Christopher a 3.54 GPA while majoring in Athletic Training.

A total of 566 women's collegiate golfers were recognized as All-American Scholars by the NGCA. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.
