TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - For the second straight season, the Indiana State baseball team produced a high-round pitching prospect, as junior hurler Colin Rea was selected in the 12^th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft by the San Diego Padres, the 383^rd overall pick of the draft.

Last season, the Sycamores saw Jacob Petricka go to the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the draft with the 63^rd overall pick.

Rea led Indiana State in wins and innings pitched this past season, going 8-4 on the mound with a 3.68 ERA over 95.1 innings. The junior from Cascade, Iowa, also led the team by limiting opposing batters to a .204 average, allowing 69 hits while fanning 76 at the plate.

Over the past three drafts, Rea is the eighth Sycamore to be selected by a professional club. In 2010, Petricka (2^nd round - Chicago White Sox) and Ryan Strausborger (16^th round - Texas Rangers) were both selected, with Nick Ciolli (10^th round - Chicago White Sox), Brady Shoemaker (19^th round - Chicago White Sox), Bronco Lafrenz (22^nd round - Philadelphia Phillies), Petricka (34^th round - New York Yankees) and Eric Valdez (35^th round - Seattle Mariners) all going in 2009.

The MLB First-Year Player Draft began at noon on Tuesday and will continue until round 30 is completed. The draft wraps up on Wednesday with rounds 31-50 being selected beginning at noon.
