TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - After trailing by seven points at the half, the Indiana State women's basketball team dominated the final 20 minutes of play on Saturday en route to a 65-57 Missouri Valley Conference win over the Wichita State Shockers on Fan Appreciation Day inside Hulman Center.
The win moves ISU into fifth place in the MVC, at an even 6-6 in conference play and 12-11 overall while the loss drops WSU to seventh place, at 5-8 in the MVC and 11-13 overall.
The opening 14 minutes of action inside Hulman Center saw neither side be able to grab more than a four-point advantage, with the Shockers getting up 6-2 and 8-4 in the game's opening four minutes. ISU took their largest advantage of the first half on an offensive rebound and a layup by senior Kelsie Cooley at the 6:24 mark to give ISU a 17-14 lead. Cooley's basket also capped a 6-0 run for the Sycamores.
After ISU took their three-point lead, the Shockers took control of the remaining six minutes of the half. WSU used a 9-1 run following Cooley's layup and a 5-0 run over the final 1:22 of the half to take a seven point lead into the locker room, at 31-24.

It took the Sycamores just three more minutes to tie the score, capping a quick 5-0 run with a jumper from Thomas at the 14:13 mark, knotting the score at 36-36.

Turner's shot gave the Shockers a 42-39 lead, but the Sycamores would go on a 24-6 run over the game's next eight minutes, forcing the Shockers to go 3-for-11 from the field, turn the ball over twice while allowing just one offensive rebound during the decisive stretch.
After struggling at the free-throw line to begin the game, the Sycamores secured the win on Saturday by knocking down their final 13 attempts from the charity stripe, an area that ISU held a large advantage. For the game, ISU went 20-for-27 from the line, while WSU was 9-for-14.
For the game, Thomas recorded her second straight double-double, going for 18 points and 11 rebounds.
