ST. LOUIS - Eight student-athletes from Indiana State earned the top academic honor from the Missouri Valley Conference on Wednesday with the announcement of the President's Council Academic Excellence Award for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The eight Sycamores that earned the President's Council Academic Excellence Award were: Erin Bianchi (Women's Soccer), Whitney Fromm (Volleyball), Scott Keeney (Men's Track & Field), Kelsey Luna (Women's Basketball), Mackenzie Mack (Women's Golf), Laurence Rivest (Women's Basketball), Kelli Whitaker (Volleyball) and Adriane Wunderlich (Women's Track & Field).
The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2009 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.
Indiana State also had a large number of student-athletes receive the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and earn selection to the MVC Honor Roll.
The Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the previous two semesters and a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average. Freshmen are not eligible. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2009) and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall.
