TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior Emily Lahay has earned the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award as Indiana State's representative on the 10-person list compiled by the league office. Each member institution selects one of its in-season student-athletes for the honor, which is awarded in the fall, winter and spring.

Lahay was also named honorable mention all-conference on Thursday and becomes the second member of the women's soccer team to earn the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award, joining Shae Fehribach from the 2007 season. Lahay, a native of Sullivan, Ind., carries a 3.93 grade-point average in Elementary Education. She has been named to the Indiana State Athletic Director's Honor Roll, the MVC Honor Roll and the Dean's List every semester. Lahay has also earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.

Lahay is active in the community, volunteering with several organizations in the greater Wabash Valley, including: the Shiner's Club, West Vigo Community Center, Sullivan community food bank, Light House Mission, Read-Across-America, Autism Awareness Walk, while also spending time at several Vigo County elementary schools.

On the soccer field, Lahay set both individual and school records this past season. The junior goalkeeper recorded the lowest individual goals against average for a season (1.00) and the most shutouts in a single season (five) in Indiana State history while leading the team to their lowest team goals against average for a season, at 1.15 per game.

In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley will recognize 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees. Institutions select their Good Neighbor Award honorees.
