TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State women's soccer team picked up their first conference win of the season in dramatic fashion on Friday night, as junior Alison Gasparovich scored with just two minutes and 50 seconds remaining in the match to give the Sycamores a 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference win over the visiting Drake Bulldogs.

Gasparovich scored from the left side of the penalty box on a pass from senior Casey Clark, who battled inside the box, along with junior Jessica Rosenberg, for possession of the ball against several Drake defenders. Clark was able to gain possession and lay the ball back to a waiting Gasparovich who placed the ball past a diving Bulldog goalkeeper into the right side of the goal.

Indiana State (7-5-1, 1-2 MVC) and Drake (7-4-3, 1-2 MVC) fought through regulation in a scoreless draw, with the Sycamores holding a slight advantage in shots (10-6) and shots on goal (4-2). Both ISU and DU took three corners over the first 90 minutes.

In the overtime periods, the Sycamores dominated the run of play, totaling four shots, two shots on goal and a pair of corner kicks. For the match, Indiana State totaled 14 shots, six shots on goal and five corner kicks.

Indiana State junior goalkeeper Emily Lahay picked up her fourth clean sheet of the season, tallying three saves in goal.

Gasparovich led the way for ISU, with five shots (three on goal) and her team and MVC-leading seventh goal of the season. Junior Seyma Erenli took four shots, with one on goal, while fellow junior Morgan Wendlandt took a pair of shots on goal. Rosenberg, junior Ashley Collins and sophomore Casey Allbright all tallied a single shot during the match as well. Clark's assist on the game-winner was her first of the season and the first assist of her Indiana State career.

Gasparovich has now scored ISU's last five goals on the season, dating back to her penalty kick goal against IUPUI on Sept. 17. The junior midfielder from Overland Park, Kan., continues to progress up the ISU record books, now sitting in fifth for single season points (17), tied for third in single season goals (seven), tied for sixth in career points (29) and tied for fourth in career goals (12).

ISU is now 3-0-1 in overtime this season, with all four matches taking place on their home turf. Dating back to the start of the 2007, ISU is 7-1-3 in overtime.

Indiana State will now take a two-game break from MVC play, with a match on Sunday in Dayton, Ohio, against Wright State at 1:00 p.m. before returning to Terre Haute and Memorial Stadium next Friday, Oct. 15, for a matchup with SIU Edwardsville at 7:00 p.m.
